Our name - Where did it come from ?

 

Seven major rivers flow through Citrus County & surrounding counties, including Crystal River, Homosassa River, Hall's River, Chassahowitzka River, Withlacoochee River, St. Martins River and Salt River

Citrus County was named for the fruit that once was abundant.   But now it is the lure of  many miles of Gulf frontage, islands, and thousands of acres of inland lakes, in addtion to the 7 rivers. Beautiful Lake Rousseau is at the northern border of Citrus County and offers great water recreation.
